Pauillac | Premier Grand Cru Classé
In 2015 a drought from May to July was followed by a wet August, with the heaviest rain falling on Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe. Lafite answered with a restrained, classical wine: 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot, aged 20 months in new oak. Critics describe redcurrant, blackcurrant and violet, pencil shavings and graphite, a little tobacco and a fine mineral line. The texture is silky and the tannins polished.
Already approachable, but still young and built for the long term.
