Pauillac | Premier Grand Cru Classé
2004 was a classic, cooler Bordeaux year: a cool, wet July and August were rescued by a sunny September. Latour's 2004 is about 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot, with a splash of Cabernet Franc. Critics find cassis, black cherry and blackberry, crushed rock, graphite, pencil lead and cedar, with notes of truffle and ink developing. The tannins remain firm.
Drinking now, with plenty of structure to keep going.
