2009 brought a hot, dry summer and a warm, sunny harvest on the Left Bank, and produced ripe, opulent wines. Mouton's 2009 is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot, and critics rank it among the estate's great modern vintages: cassis, black cherry and plum, graphite, cedar and cocoa, with liquorice on a long finish. The tannins are firm and velvety, keeping all that richness in shape.

Still young, with decades ahead of it.
