About the Producer

Château Rauzan-Gassies is located in the communes of Margaux and Cantenac in Gironde. In AOC Margaux, it is classified second grand cru in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855.

The history of Château Rauzan-Gassies is intimately intertwined with that of Château Rausan-Ségla, its most immediate neighbor of which it was an integral part until the end of the 18th century. It was in 1946 that Mr. Paul Quié purchased this vineyard, thus following in the footsteps of numerous predecessors, such as more particularly Mr. Rhoné-Pereire who, in the 19th century, had a particularly positive impact on the reputation of the wine. Let us also mention Mr. de Rausan, Advisor to the Parliament of Bordeaux who left on the label of the property the trace of his passage in the form of wings which protect bunches loaded with grapes.
