This esteemed estetate joined Domaines Baron de Rothschild in 1990, aligning with Château Lafite Rothschild in Pauillac. The name itself speaks of the consistent excellency. The 2011 l’Evangile exhibits a dark ruby color with purple nuances as well as noticeable acidity. Streamlined, crisp, elegant and mid-weight style, it has notes of red and black fruits, light tannin and a fresh, vibrant mouthfeel.

About the Producer

Originally christened L'Évangile in the 19th century, this esteemed estate found its place under the Domaines Baron de Rothschild umbrella in 1990, joining forces with the esteemed Château Lafite Rothschild in Pauillac. Since then, significant restructuring efforts have been undertaken, both in the vineyard and cellar, leading to the creation of a remarkable series of vintages.

Situated on a 22-hectare vineyard, Château L'Évangile benefits from sandy-clay soils with a prominent presence of pure gravel, overlaying an iron-rich crasse subsoil that imparts a sumptuous minerality to the wines. Comprising 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the grape varieties thrive in this unique terroir.

Following harvest, the wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with 70% being new, allowing for optimal maturation and development of complexity.
